a project hosted in the Paper Whimsy Art Forum. I have never been one to be comfortable with sewing with a sewing machine....and I haven't done any sewing by hand other than fixing a button here and a book there for many many years....so when I signed up to make a pair of Fairy Slippers as originally designed by Annette Emms...using her pattern and her instructions I was intrigued but nervous....after making a pair that turned out ....well not so good...I proceeded to make this pair out of the most scrumptious fabric that already had embroidery on it and well...it was a wonderful thing. I grew....artistically.... a wonderful thing indeed...
and here for you to see is the final result...I hope you like them....
and with them I have written a little story about Willa....These little slippers were created for Willa the Woodland Fairy….she flitters around the forest gathering all the glittery bits that she can find and brings them back to her little glen.
Her home is nicely carpeted with soft mosses, grasses and wildflowers and surrounded by a hedge of ivy to keep her safe. Willa nestles up at night with some eggs in a glittery nest and the mother bird graciously sets about keeping both her and the eggs warm till the morning light….
In the morning she takes a quick dip in a nearby creek as it glimmers in the morning sun. She plunks herself down on the mossy ground in the sunlight to dry her wings and golden locks whilst nibbling on some delicious fairy wafers dipped in honeycomb. Then once more she dons her fairy slippers gives them a tip and a tap… shakes her glistening wings and slips away… off on a new day’s adventure… The pattern for these delightful slippers was designed by and all rights are retained by Annette Emms and special permission was granted for the use of the pattern for the sole purpose of this project and not for further sale or use.
